Oregon - Day One: Travel

Well I woke up this morning super jazzed and excited for the day. I could barely sleep last night thinking about the trip and how excited I was. Then I had so much energy that I literally tried to do everything before I left.

Went to Target and bought new headphones. Which came in clutch for the trip. And bought a rolling suitcase, also a good idea. And travel beauty supplies. Dropped off dry cleaning, and my car for an oil change and mailed a package. All before 2pm. I was pretty proud.

Then started packing. I was thankful I had most of my stuff laid out the night before. I also was taking all dirty clothes because I didn’t have time for laundry. Also, so many hard decisions on what to bring and what to leave. The hardest was deciding to leave my Bible. The Bible app will have to do for a week while Big Bertha Bible stays at home. Ordered an Uber and I was off!

Got to the airport and my heart almost sank when I saw the line for security. I’ve done Pittsburgh airport before in 20 minutes so I’m never that early and it’s a small airport. But today made me a little anxious.

Boarded my first flight - 3 hours. Read most of my book. Started talking to the guy next to me. He was pretty cool. He was visiting his son in Colorado to go hunting. Found out he was a Mormon.. kind of.. he doesn’t have a car but he’s on a plane and has traveled all around the world. I had to ask him twice to explain and it felt like asking a third time would be rude so I just smiled and nodded at how that worked out.

On to my next flight. Only 1 hour in between. I was all mixed up with time changes and if I missed my flight. Walked all the way to Q’doba and it was a huge line so walked all the way back and ended up with only a granola bar.

Second flight and finished my book. Little girl kicking my seat behind me. I figured the mom had enough stress so I didn’t say anything. Instead I leaned forward and rested on the tray table. No shame.

Got off a Redmond and super small airport. You get off outside and have to walk to get to the building. And it’s basically the size of a large house. Also noted that we are definitely in the west, lost of rocks and browns and rocking chairs.

Rachel picked me up and we had a lovely ride to her place catching up. Sharing all the highlights from the soccer season. And Natalie greeted me at the door with a surprise Birthday cake to blow out the candles! So sweet!

Tour of the apartment and curry for dinner. We sat and had good conversation. I’m so tired, I think it’s 2am my time. Then laughed about apartment decorations and plans for the week!

I need to go to bed :)
